SALON AND SPA OWNERS USE YOUR TIME WISELY

Salon and Spa Owners Use Your Time Wisely

As a business owner In the Salon and Spa industry it is very challenging to make the highest and best use of your time. You are confronted with many tasks and it is easy to get distracted and lose focus on the most important responsibility you have… ensuring the success of your Salon or Spa.

We’ve all done it. Started our day with great intentions to work on the projects that will help our business grow and prosper. Then the phone calls, staff interruptions, and crises begin. All of a sudden the day is gone. We end the day with a renewed commitment to getting the important tasks complete the next day, and unfortunately the same thing occurs. Before we know it weeks and months go bye and we are still caught in the cycle of distractions.

Don’t feel like you are alone! This is a very common situation for all business owners and even more so for our industry. Managing your time wisely is critical to your ability to more quickly grow and prosper your business.

So how do you change the cycle and get yourself focused on income producing activities? The answer to this question is not an easy one, and it differs from one Salon or Spa to another, and it is also partly about your personality. But here are a few ideas for you to try:

Do Not DIY - you cannot do it all yourself! From bookkeeping and overseeing the team, to marketing and facilities upgrades, learn to delegate or outsource the less important tasks. Yes there is a cost to having someone else do parts of these tasks, but it will free up your time so you can stay laser focused on the future growth and success of your business.

Create a time each day that is uninterrupted - this may sound impossible but it is not. Your business can run itself for a couple hours each day! Set aside 2 hours each day that you are in your office, doors closed, no phone calls. Period. Train your staff that they are to proceed as if you were not there. We suggest you do this in the mornings, but if you are a slow starter and your ability to focus is better after lunch that works too. Use this time to study the future of your business, with a focus on projects that are going to grow your business or make it more profitable. We know it is not easy to create this new pattern in your business management, but we also know that those Salon & Spa owners who have succeeded in creating this routine have achieved much higher levels of business success.Need help getting started on delegating and focus?
